The plumage of these birds is mostly blue; the head and neck are grayish blue; the breast and belly are green; the irises of the eyes are bright yellow. These parrots grow up to 22 inches in length and up to 25 inches in wingspan. A spix macaw is extremely rare; chicks are valuable, and breeders can make a fortune by selling them.
