Bird Breeder

In the wild, these creatures usually look for their partners in winter. The males mate by ruffling their bright feathers. Pairs usually do not stay together for long. During the mating period, females build nests while males guard their territory by chasing away other couples. The two sexes come together in the period of mating though the male usually leaves when the incubation period begins. There are about nine to thirteen eggs that are laid at daily intervals. The eggs usually hatch within 28 days.

Ducks are not as popular as the chicken, because they need special conditions and their meat is not white and lean. To be healthy, ducks should be allowed access to water and fed a grain and insect diet. Females of domestic ducks are very unreliable at raising their young, so duck eggs are often put under a broody hen. Many ducks are also kept for show, as pets or for their ornamental value, as some species are very bright and attractive. There are many duck breeds created for various purposes.
