Wild Duck

Males are naturally brightly colored and differ greatly from females. Females are plain and brown. The average length of these birds is about 50-60 cm. (20.5 -28 in.) The birds molt in late spring or early summer; the males molt earlier than the females. The mallards can be found in North America and Central America. These birds come together for mating. The males leave when the incubation period starts. There are about nine to thirteen eggs laid at short intervals. As soon as the eggs are hatched, the ducklings are led to water.
