Sometimes these birds are called “waterfowls” because in the wild they are usually found in places with water like ponds, streams and rivers. They have short necks and wings and webbed feet. The ducks are actually related to geese and swans, but are smaller. Ducks are rather hardy birds; they can survive in a wide variety of habitats, though they naturally need water. The length of an average bird is about 50-60 cm. Wild ducks are hunted and the hunters attract with special whistles that remind the whistles of these birds.

Chick Classifieds -
breeders, aviaries
There are many breeds that have been developed with crests and tufts or striking plumage. Decorative ducks are displayed at shows. Such species can be kept as pets and ornamentals. Most duck species are undemanding and can live feely in the garden, backyard or in a city park and feed on insects, slugs and any wildlife both in water and on land. It is a popular misconception that ducks should be fed bread. Bread has limited nutritional value and can be deadly when fed to developing ducklings. Though, feeding ducks bread helps them survive cold winters. The chick classifieds and breeders are two sources of avian pets; aviaries are more reliable.
