Domestic ducks are not very popular nowadays, because they don’t have white lean meat and need special conditions. On the other hand, ducks are easy to keep compared to chickens, if they have access to water. They can be kept free range or in cages. Females of most domestic ducks are unreliable at raising their young, but ducklings rely on the mother for a supply of preen oil, which makes them waterproof. If the ducklings have access to water, it’s not recommended to use a hen to substitute the mother duck for the ducklings. Without a mother, ducklings will not be able to swim. All chicks don't look the same; some chicks are bigger and brighter; others are less fidgety; their pictures are very attractive.
