The usual coloring of the birds is green with pale olive under the wings. The head, including the forehead, crown, lores, ear coverts and cheeks are dull royal blue. The eyes are surrounded by a bare white patch of skin and the iris is reddish-orange.

These birds are known to live close to people always and their life expectancy is approximately 30-40 years. The species described is one of the biggest that weighs about 150-180 grams.
