These birds are also often called “toos” and are native to Australia, Indonesia, New Zealand, Malaya and some other Pacific islands. They are found in the tropical rainforest, the grassy plains, and the dry savannahs. The name of the bird comes from the Malayan “kakatua”, which means “big parrot”.
