An orphan Bald Eagle chick will usually be a hardy chick that an aviary has sucess with raising. Bald eagles were chosen to be the symbol of the USA, because of their power and nobility. Itís the only large birds confined to North America. These birds were common on the territory of modern USA in the early 18th century. The first settlers killed them in large numbers and destroyed their habitats. Tough relationships with humans continued up to the 1940ís when it became illegal to kill this species according to the Bald Eagle Act. Although protected by the government, these birds suffered much from pesticides, lead and other agents. Only in the beginning of the 21st century, Bald Eagles upgraded their status to common in some areas. An orphan Bald Eagle chick will usually be a hardy chick that an aviary has sucess with raising.

Bald Eagles are native birds of North America. These birds are found over most of North America, from Alaska and Canada to northern Mexico. In Alaska, the population of these birds is the greatest. Bald Eagles are members of the sea and fish eagle group. These birds generally measure 3 feet from head to tail, and weigh 7 to 10 pounds. Their wingspan reaches about 6 1/2 feet. Female birds are larger than males. Large, pale eyes, powerful yellow beak, and great talons are characteristic features of these birds. An orphan Bald Eagle chick will usually be a hardy chick that an aviary has sucess with raising.
